OCZ Technology PC2-8500 Reaper HPC CrossFire Edition 2GB Kit
|
The Basics:
I found the OCZ Technology PC2-8500 Reaper HPC CrossFire Edition memory modules to be visually appealing. No bright colors or fancy LEDs, just heavy black heat spreaders with a simple yet effective heat pipe design attached to the top.
On one side of each module there is a "Cross Fire Certified" label, and on the other side there is an OCZ label that provides basic information such as part number, speed, size, and timings.
I would like to point out that the heat spreaders are much more significant than what I am used to seeing. They are solid and actually have some weight to them. OCZ Technology should look into selling these separately, as I believe they would sell quite well.
The modules OCZ Technology used on this PC2-8500 kit have Micron D9GCT chips and use an 8 layer Kunyu Tech model KO-8046 PCB [PDF]. A google search shows that this same PCB is used by at least one other manufacturer of high speed DDR2.
Configuration:
The OCZ Technology PC2-8500 Reaper HPC CrossFire Edition 2GB Kit was installed in a system with the following components for this review:
