OCZ Technology EliteXStream 800W Power Supply
|
Internal Inspection:
Opening the OCZ Technology EliteXStream 800W power supply reveals the internal components of the unit. As usual, there are four screws to remove, and doing so voids the 5 year OCZ Technology "PowerSwap" warranty. One of the compelling reasons to consider an OCZ Technology power supply is the "PowerSwap" warranty. What this means on a unit like the EliteXstream is that within 5 years of the date of purchase, OCZ Technology will replace a defective unit with a completely new one.
In the above right image I found something interesting I haven't seen in any other power supplies I have opened. If you look closely, there is a green wire with a yellow stripe for grounding the unit. In the below left image you can see the inside of the unit where all of the power connections are located. In the middle of the unit you can see two big transformers and there are some small black heatsinks spread across some components to help keep them cool. In the below right image you can see three blue capacitors under some heatinks and behind a small circuit board.
The label for the power supply's fan is shown below. It is model MGA12012HF-025 from Protechnic, a 120mm rifle bearing fan which is rated at 0.45A and 12V. The noise level is rated at 25dBA at maximum speed, and under normal operating conditions it is rated for less than 17dBA.
Accessories:
The accessories included with the OCZ Technology EliteXStream 800W power supply are very basic. There is a color booklet, four black screws, a couple zip ties, and a power cord.
