NZXT Tempest Mid-Tower ATX Case

External Examination (continued):
To access the front fans all one has to do is remove the 4 screws attaching the fan mount to the front of the chassis. This also reveals the access to the removable hard drive cages as seen below. I'll touch base on these later in this review.
As I ventured to the top of the case I couldn't help but notice two large 140mm exhaust fans covered by steel mesh. There are other cases available that use a similar layout, but this is the first I have had an opportunity to review and use. This layout looks quite promising for keeping the interior of your PC cool. Although I can see the potential for chaos should someone decide to set liquids near the fan openings.
The top is also where you will find the front accessible power and reset switches. NZXT also included two USB ports, one microphone jack, one audio out jack, and one e-SATA connection. The control panel is recessed roughly 4" and is faced forward.
As I turn my attention to the rear of the Tempest two things pop out. One being another 120mm exhaust fan, and the second being the power supply location at the bottom. With this layout your motherboard will be mounted towards the top with the seven expansion bays in the middle. As you can see, NZXT has kept the water-cooling enthusiasts in mind with the addition of 2 predrilled holes for water tube access. I did notice what I would consider to be minor flaws here. The first being the 1/2" diameter of the water tube access holes. Some water kits available today make use of larger tubing. The second would be the lack of a filter for the vent opening next to the expansion slots.
