NZXT Lexa Blackline Performance Midtower ATX Case
August 30, 2007

Installation:

NZXT has included enough tool-less drive mounts to fill all the bays. The below left image shows an example of the 5.25" drive bay brackets on the left and the 3.5" hard drive brackets on the right. Each of them is labeled as ODD or HDD. The below right image shows them attached to the appropriate drive. Sliding them into the proper bay until they click, they are fully mounted and do not move. I did not have any problems with NZXT's implementation of a tool-less installation for 5.25" drive devices, which can not be said for all cases I have used previously.

Taking a look at the tool-less expansion slot system, the clip flips up out of the way for you to install your cards, and once they are in place, the clip can be swung back down and locked into place. I did not have a problem with the expansion slot tool-less clip with any single slot video cards, but when I installed an eVGA 8800GTS PCI Express card which uses one slot for the card and one for the fan exhaust, I did have to press down a little harder than I felt should have been necessary. Once installed I noticed the clip was bending a little where the card was installed (although difficult to see in this picture). This is due to the large bracket that is used on this card. The card is solidly installed, and was not able to be moved, so I am fine with this.

With the system installed and all connections made, it was time to take a final look at the installation.

In the below left image it can be seen that there is plenty of room for all components, and the cables could all be routed and connected for a clean installation. The below right image shows the system powered on and the side panel in place. The red glow from the LEDs is absolutely beautiful (and I usually only like blue LEDs, so now I have to change my CPU cooler). My only complaint here (which is common among many other cases with a side window) is that you can see the ugly grey of the drive bays. This stands out against the black finish of the case and the red glow bouncing off all the installed components.

The front bezel has the vertical LED strip which also glows red, and it looks much better in person than in my picture. I was impressed at just how great it looks (too bad there isn't a way to have it pulse to sound, or something like that). The LCD display for the three thermal probes at the top of the case has a red glow to it as well, and once again it looks much better than the picture represents.
