|
Installation:
The Thermalright IFX-14 CPU and Back-side Heatpipe Cooler was installed in a system with the following key components for this review:
» Abit IP35-E Motherboard
» Intel Q6600 G0 stepping quad core processor
» Xclio GoodPower 500W PSU
» GeForce2 MX400 PCI video card
» WinXP SP2
» CoreTemp 0.95.4
» Windows Prime95 v25.6,build 6
We'll start by walking through some of the steps required to install the cooler on the system described above. The IFX-14 is mounted to the motherboard with an interesting system that includes a backplate and 4 studs inserted from the bottom.
The studs have hex heads that lock into tabs on the back plate to keep them from spinning and o-rings that slide over the top of the back plate to hold them in place.
The IFX-10 back-side cooler is held in place by the back plate and includes two squares of adhesive thermal tape to help keep it in place and transfer heat from the motherboard to the cooler.
Two mounting stands are secured to these studs from the top, a top plate with two spring loaded thumb screws are placed over the heatsink and tightened to the mounting stands.
