Packaging:
This all-in-one media center is packaged for retail shelves with plenty of information to allow the consumer to make an informed decision. Inside the box each component is wrapped in a plastic bag, and surrounding the bags are two large form fitting Styrofoam blocks. The packaging is more than sufficient to ensure that the unit is undamaged by minor shipping mishaps.
The Basics:
The front of the device is divided in to three sections. At the top we have the 7 inch wide screen LCD display. Directly below the display are the controls and a simple status screen. At the bottom is the optical media tray, which only ejects about 90% of the way. When a disc is placed in the tray, a small portion of the disk is already inside the player. The below right image shows the controls arranged in a semi-circle and labeled for each of the intended functions. Depending on what you are playing, some of these buttons have multiple uses. For example, the "Auto-Program" button also acts as an eject and stop button, while the "Pre-Tuner" button is also the play, select, and pause button.
The back of the unit is where the connections are located. At the top is a simple TV antenna socket, while the middle portion is where the bulk of the connections are made. At the very bottom of the unit is a hard-wired power cable, and a hard power switch.
Taking a closer look at the inputs I found that many of the desired connections are available. The only connections I felt were missing were an s-video and component video input. There is a set of component video outputs, but the only other video input is a composite connection.
