Conclusion:
After having run the ECS NF650iSLIT-A (V1.0) NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI Motherboard through its paces and seeing the impressive performance first hand, it leaves little doubt in my mind. NVIDIA's latest socket is definitely no slouch when it comes to performance, even as a somewhat budget conscious offering this thing packs quite a punch. If you are an enthusiast on a budget, or just someone looking for a solid mid-range upgrade, then do not overlook this 650i board from ECS as it is definitely a sleeper. I know I will be looking at budget motherboards with more detail from now on when I am building a system.
A search of PriceGrabber shows that the ECS NF650iSLIT-A (V1.0) NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI Motherboard can be purchased for around $120 (US). A bit higher than $100 makes this more than a true budget motherboard, but far less than many of the high end boards on the market. For the enthusiast with a moderate budget, this board is an excellent choice to build a system around... or to upgrade an existing system.
Given the price and performance I give the ECS NF650iSLIT-A (V1.0) NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI Motherboard the award of "Recommended".
Pros:
» Strong performance
» Reasonably priced
» Decent overclocking features in the BIOS
» Capable of 1333MHz FSB
» Variety of audio connections and 8-channel capable
Cons:
» A bit short on accessories (especially cables)
» Sparsely populated rear I/O panel (Firewire? Parallel?)
» PCI-E 16x slots may be too close together to allow larger coolers
» Oddly positioned 4-pin power connection and IDE connections
