Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1250W Power Supply

The Basics (continued):
Below we see the side panel where the data label is affixed. Here we find all the basic specifications, some manufacturing data, a variety of regulatory certifications, and warnings about opening the power supply.
The below left image shows the best view of the mysterious iridescent finish that eventually faded away, as well as a look at the point where the cables enter the housing. The cables are all finished nicely in black mesh with heat shrink tubing ends, but here we see that some cables have wrapping that extends into the housing, while others are wrapped to a point just shy of the opening. A plastic band is used to keep all the cables together and to provide some strain relief, while the metal around the opening in the housing is rolled to prevent sharp edges from cutting the cables.
The above right image shows the back of the power supply and its wide open, hexagonal mesh. There is no power switch on this unit, just a socket for the AC power cord and a small LED that indicates whether the unit is functioning properly (green) or has one of the problems listed in the features section of the review (red). Take a close look at the label placed over the socket... It provides a warning that this unit should not be used on a circuit rated at less than 16A. If you plan to use this power supply to its full potential you better do as it says, and perhaps find a circuit with even more head room in order to power anything else that might be needed. As I was setting up for this review I realized that the bulk of my office equipment is all on a 15A circuit and that I better move the test setup to the other side of the room to take advantage of a 20A circuit, just to be safe!
The socket for the AC power cord does not have the standard three prong configuration that I have seen on every other power supply I have ever used. The prongs are larger and in a different arrangement, so you can not use any old cord you might have laying around. Due to the high capacity of this unit a special cord is provided to match, and in addition to a different socket arrangement, it is much thicker than any other power supply cord I have seen. The image below shows the cord and the other included accessories, an interesting metal case badge, a bag of mounting screws, and the key to any successful power supply upgrade... a bottle opener!
