The Basics:
When opening the package, I was immediately impressed by how the hub itself looked. It was shiny and streamlined, and a far cry from the typical dull hubs I have used before. This product is not only designed to increase efficiency and productivity, but looks good doing it.
The Ultra Products 7 Port USB Buddy Hub includes the hardware shown below, as well as an installation manual and a product registration card. There are two 6 foot USB cords, an AC power adapter, and the hub itself.
Installation and Operation:
Setting up the 7 Port USB Buddy Hub was relatively straight forward. Just plug the AC adapter in to a wall outlet and the hub, connect one USB cable between a PC and the port labeled "PC/A", and connect the other USB cable between a second PC and the port labeled "PC/B".
You are now ready to connect your USB peripherals and to begin sharing up to seven of them between systems. To switch the device between computers, simply press the button that corresponds to that device's USB port and an LED will show which PC is using the corresponding device. A red light indicates that the device is being controlled by "PC/A", while a green light indicates that the device is being controlled by "PC/B". It also helps that each LED is labeled "A" or "B" in order to keep things as simple as possible.
