ToughDrive Mini Basics:
The ATP Electronics ToughDrive Mini has a rugged feel to it due to the synthetic polymer casing. The front of the drive is labeled with the manufacturer's name, model, and capacity. There is also a tiny LED hidden behind a semi-transparent area. The back of the drive provides a few certifications, the complete model number, and that it is "Made in Taiwan".
The ToughDrive Mini is larger than the Petito, and in the image below I have placed it across two US quarters for reference.
The image above also shows the USB connector cap which is designed to protect from damage, and water. This cap does not slide onto the USB connector very easily, and you will have to apply a little pressure. This is a good thing, as it provides a more secure connection and may help to keep water out.
While the Petito included a wrist strap, the ToughDrive Mini includes a little aluminum clip, which resembles a mountain climbing non-locking carabiner. The clip attaches to the ToughDrive Mini with a little keyring. If I was to offer any advice on the manufacturing of the ToughDrive Mini it would be to add a little support to the hole where the clip attaches. There is only rubber at this location, and if it was pulled hard enough the keyring could potentially rip through the rubber.
