Sapphire Atomic Radeon HD4870 X2 2048MB Graphics Card
December 18, 2008

Accessories:

The Atomic Radeon HD4870 X2 is a special edition card, and will be produced in very limited quantities. The image below shows the "Certificate of Authentication" medallion you receive that indicates which number your card was in production. This one is number 097... Shall we assume there will be under 1000 total based on the three digit code?

The aluminum case is lined with black foam to keep all of the components in place, and underneath it all is a box of accessories and what seems to be a large decal with what looks like Calypso from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Inside the box there are numerous accessories to check out. The above right image shows a graphics card user's manual and a guide for installing the card, CPU cooler, and radiator. The below left image shows hardware accessories related to the video card, which include a 6-pin PCI Express power adapter, an 8-pin PCI Express power adapter, an HDMI cable, an s-video to component adapter, a CrossFire bridge, an s-video to composite adapter, a DVI to 15-pin VGA adapter, and a DVI to HDMI adapter. I generally recommend that people avoid using the power adapters and just get an appropriate power supply before getting a high end video card. With this card it seems like a no-brainer; if you have the money for a card like this, please make sure all of your other components are up to snuff, first!

The above right image shows all of the hardware included for mounting the CPU cooler to your motherboard. AMD AM2 and Intel LGA 775 processors are supported, but it seems like Intel LGA 1366 is too new, as it is not supported.

There are two 2GB switch blade style USB thumb drives included, as well as a variety of optical disks. You get a copy of CyberLink's DVD Suite, CyberLink's PowerDVD, an installation disk, a copy of FutureMark's 3DMark Vantage, and a copy of ATI's Ruby ROM Volume II. Unfortunately, there was nothing on either thumb drive except for a zipped up file for formatting the thumb drive.

Considering all that is included, and all that you have paid to get this card, you would think there might be at least one hot new game included? Nope.
