Packaging and Accessories:
The packaging may be trivial in the end, but since it is the first thing you see, it can definitely make a lasting impression regarding the item inside. My first impression of the ASUS EEE PC 4G 701 netbook that Geeks.com sent over was not a very good one.
A thinly padded bag didn't seem like the best option for shipping a laptop computer, and the fact that it was dirty and a bit mushed didn't help things.
Inside the bag, the corners of the retail box were also a bit mushed, but otherwise everything seemed to be intact. The main concern I now had was that the box definitely looked used thanks to tape residue, dirt, and a resealed opening. I was worried that the refurbished netbook inside would have a similar, shabby appearance.
Once inside the box I started to feel a bit better, as everything was clean and there were no obvious signs that this wasn't a new unit. Everything was neatly arranged, and all of the key components were wrapped in either a plastic bag or foam wrap.
In addition to the EEE PC 4G 701 netbook, you also receive the items shown below. In the below left image we see the black neoprene protective case, detailed user's guide, support DVD, AC power adapter, warranty information card, and the Lithium Ion battery. The below right image takes a closer look at the battery and the AC power adapter, which has a plug that can fold flat into the adapter body. This close up view shows that these items are either new, or very much like new, and the 'refurbishing' of the box obviously was not indicative of what was to be found inside. Hopefully the netbook itself looks as good as these items...
