Testing (continued):
The next two tests are actually 3D games with built in benchmarking utilities that I used to see if the two kits tested could enhance the gaming experience. The first test is from the wild west game "Call of Juarez". With a resolution of 1280x1024 and settings on high, the following results were achieved (higher is better).
What we see is that the results are too close to actually be seen in game, but the Aeneon kit does put up slightly better scores across the board. Focusing on the average frame rate values, the difference is never more than 1-2 fps. The values aren't that great either, but someone with a system like this should probably be more concerned about upgrading their video card than overclocking their system memory!
The final test is from a new racing game called Track Mania Nations Forever. The following results were achieved with a resolution of 1280x1024, 4x antialiasing, 4x anisotropic filtering, and the settings on high.
This time around the Aeneon kit is outperformed by the Kingston kit by the slightest margin. The differences are generally less than 1 fps, so no difference should be detected while playing the game.
