X2gen MG19R8 19

Packaging and Accessories:

The X2gen MG19R8 19" TFT LCD Display arrived from Geeks.com in a massive brown box loaded with "air pillow" packing material that should do well to protect something like a monitor on even the longest, roughest rides. I appreciate the attention Geeks.com paid to minimize any potential damage in transit.

Inside the sea of air pillows was the white box shown in the below left image. Fairly plain, and it really only lists the bare minimum of details in addition to a good sized image of the monitor. What you see in this view is duplicated on the back side, and the other faces of the box have even less information to offer.

The above right image shows how the monitor is packed inside the white box. Suspended upside down in a white foam frame, the monitor is fairly well protected. The entire monitor is sealed inside a clear plastic bag, and a heavier gauge sheet of plastic is installed over the screen for added protection. All in all, the combination of X2gen's internal packaging and Geeks.com's oversized box should alleviate any concerns many people might have about ordering a monitor online.

Packed above the monitor, is the brown box shown below. All of the contents are pictured on top of the box, and include: external power adaptor, wall outlet plug, 15-pin VGA cable, and a 1/8" stereo audio cable.

The external power adaptor caught my eye, as just about every other LCD monitor I have used simply required a cable to go from the back of the monitor straight to the wall. Having the external 'brick' seems like a positive to me, as it makes the monitor lighter for wall mounting, makes replacing defective power components easier, and opens up an interesting modification idea. While the input of the power adaptor accepts 100-240VAC, the output is 12VDC (4.2A), making it quite possible to power the display from an alternate source like your car or even straight from the computer's power supply!

The VGA and audio cable are both of adequate length and quality; I have seen better cables, but these aren't low grade either.
