The Basics:
The Nexstar3 comes in a nice retail oriented package. If this was on a shelf, it would definitely grab my attention. The front of the box not only gives you a view of the enclosure, but it also gives you a very brief overview of what it is. The backside of the box is where you find the detailed information on the unit.
Opening the box, you will find that everything is packaged very well, which will help prevent damage during shipment. The enclosure itself is nestled between two foam blocks, and wrapped in plastic to avoid scratches. The little white box contains the power supply, while all the additional accessories are next to the enclosure.
Once you remove the hard drive cage from the enclosure, you can see the important parts of the enclosure. You have a single connector that supplies both power and a SATA data connection to a circuit board. The only other connector on the circuit board is a three-pin hard drive access indicator which connects to a little cable that extends out of the empty chassis by about an inch.
Installing your SATA hard drive is simple. Plug the connector onto your drive, and place it on to the drive cage. Install four screws to secure it to the cage and you're done.
