The Basics:
The Saitek A-250 Wireless 2.1 Speaker System comes nicely packaged in a retail box that is eye catching because of all of the pictures. Additionally, it has all of the features and specifications printed on the box.
Inside the box the speaker system is wrapped in a cheese cloth-like bag to protect the finish, which is then set inside an egg crate like box with the accessories packed around it. The package includes the speakers, instruction manual, polishing cloth, USB extension cable, wireless transmitter, A/C adaptor, and a 3.5mm audio cable to connect an alternative music source such as an MP3 player.
First Impressions:
Once you get everything unpacked the good looks of the speakers are hard to miss or deny. The A-250 Wireless 2.1 Speaker System has a black lacquer finish which is accented by a dark red speaker bezel on the left side and a 'burnt' orange bezel on the right. This right hand bezel is also the location for all of the control buttons.
On the bottom side we can see the woofer and the door for the four AA batteries which are not included. On the back side there are the two jacks, one for the A/C power adapter and one for the 3.5mm audio input jack to connect a music source such as an MP3 player or your PC directly (bypassing the wireless functionality.
Overall build quality seems to be top notch. The speakers feel very sturdy, and when you pick them up they have a solid feel with no rattles, giving the impression that they are built to last. They also have a very modern style that I found very appealing.
