Raidmax RX-9 ATX Gaming Case
January 24, 2006

Interior:

The RX-9 is a tool-less case, which means that in theory you shouldn't need any tools to get it up and running. I did find that you need a screwdriver for the usual suspects, such as mounting your motherboard, and securing your power supply. It is tool-less after that though. If you look closely at the top of the case, you can see how much additional height is provided by the top panel.

Here is the inside look at the side panel. You can see the panel is actually made up of two pieces. An aluminum door, and a plastic overlay which extends well above the aluminum door.

The side panel is rather large and thick. The plastic overlay adds approximately a 1/2 inch to the width of the door. On the top of the plastic portion there are notches that line up with the plastic portion of the case, although I am not an engineer, this is what I suspect makes it side panel difficult to remove. Especially since it's starting to get easier to remove the panels after I have removed them many times.

Here is the internal 3.5" hard drive mounts. It's hard to see here, but to mount the drives, you use the same tool-less drive mounts as on the 5.25 drive bays. I found these to be difficult to use, as you are unable to see the holes to make sure they line up. Inside the removable drive cage Raidmax has included plastic rails which should help absorb some vibrations and keep the noise a little lower. I was not able to see any easy way to access the 120mm fan (should you be inclined to change it), and the only way to change the front 120mm fan is to remove the entire front bezel, which includes removing some screws.
