Raidmax RX-9 ATX Gaming Case
January 24, 2006

Exterior (continued):

Speaking of the side panel, here you are able to see the unique windows on the RX-9. There are two little windows that allow somebody to mod this panel into some really cool designs. Directly behind the lower window is an 80mm intake fan; once powered up, I realized this was an LED fan. Looking at the top of the case, you can see how far the top and side panel extend from the rest of the case. I really like the design of this case. The opposite side looks identical to this side, even includes the 80mm fan vent. A nice touch!

On the back, there is nothing unusual to see. You have the standard power supply cutout, 120mm exhaust fan vent, motherboard back panel area, and the expansion bays. In this view you can also see the side panel handle. When I removed the side panel I was extremely happy this handle was there. Without this handle, I don't think I could have gotten the side panel off. As it is, I still had to struggle to remove the panels. Just to be certain it wasn't me, I had a friend remove the panel and he never got it off. He gave up on it. Ultimately, I had to have him pull on the case, while I pulled the side panel off. Again with Raidmax's reputation, I assume this is an oversight, but was still an issue for me. After about six (6) removals of the side panel, it has begun to get easier to remove. Another unique feature on this case is the integrated speakers on the front. To connect the speakers, you simply plug the headphone plug into your sound card's output. Right next to the speaker cable is a little switch, that has a lead running to the front of the case.

A bunch of accessories are included with the RX-9. In the first picture, you can see a little extra manual that goes over setting up the LED display. Next to the manual, you have a power supply connector that must be used if you want to use the remote control to turn on the machine. The power supply connector is a 20-pin to 20/24-pin connector, with a four pin Molex coming off the portion connecting to your motherboard. Next to the power connector you have the remote that will be discussed during installation. In the bottom row you have an adapter for the power LED, a little Raidmax badge, an assorted bag of screws, standoffs, and paper washers. Next you have a little bag of three pieces of thermal tape, one for each of the thermal probes. Finally, Raidmax has included an assortment of stickers to apply to your case to enhance the racing theme.
