Pertelian X2040 V4 USB LCD Portable Display
|
Operation:
To give you an idea of what the screen looks like with your chosen plug-ins, I have selected some of the more common ones to highlight. I will be using the LCD emulation software to give you the clearest picture of the screens.
This is the first screen you see when the device is initialized. This screen will display the Welcome Text from the General Settings screen.
In the below left screenshot you can see the volume level and that you have initialized the plug-ins for Winamp and iTunes. The below right screenshot shows that the Pertelian will alert you to an update to the forums you specify in this plug-ins configuration.
Here I have added the MMORPG.com RSS feed, and have received updates to the feed. It comes across with one story on each line, and it will scroll so you can see the rest of the story. I did not find this plug-in to be particularly useful, as I found it hard to monitor the feed while it was scrolling. Perhaps if you could control the scroll speed for each specific plug-in you could adjust for your specific needs, but uou do have the option to use a hotkey to bring up the RSS feed to read the full story. The next screen is the typical stock ticker. Here you can see the current stock price of two well known companies. You can get more information on the stocks using another hotkey. It would be useful to have an indicator to show whether the stock is up or down, and ForeSight Systems LLC has added this to their development list.
One of the plug-ins I was most excited about was for system statistics. This plug-in was also a disappointment. It can display up to 84 functions, including CPU usage, memory usage, drive statistics, and page file information. One thing it did not monitor was system temperatures, and the CPU usage is only shown as one core, it does not show both cores of a dual core processor. Perhaps the plug-in could be revised to show this information. The last plug-in I wanted to show you is the weather plug-in. You can configure the weather for your region, and it will present you with the temperature and weather conditions.
While the screens above were taken using the EmuLCD utility, here you can see a picture of what the actual screen looks like. As you can see the text is easy to read.
