| Crucial Gizmo! Overdrive 1GB USB Flash Drive

Performance:
The Crucial Gizmo! USB Flash Drive was tested in three different ways. The first two tests involved common benchmarking tools - SiSoft Sandra Standard and HD Tach v3.0. The results of the testing can be seen in the screen shots below. Benchmarks were taken on several machines with USB 2.0 functionality (and tested results were within +/- 1MB).
 
SiSoft Sandra showed a write speed of 11MB/s and a read speed of 22MB/s, while HD Tach showed an average read speed of 21.8MB/s. Considering Crucial advertises maximum speeds of 13MB/s (write) and 25MB/s (read), these results are quite good. Our results were within ~12% of Crucial's maximum speeds. Consumers should keep in mind that thumb drive read and write speeds can easily be influenced by many factors including: number of files, file size, and file system (FAT16, FAT32, NTFS). If you are comparing different drives be sure to keep this in mind as results can be heavily impacted.
