Sunbeamtech NUUO 550W Power Supply
June 19, 2006

External Features:

The exterior is very shiny in a metallic charcoal finish that can quickly acquire smudges from handling. I do like these finishes more than the old school flat gray color power supplies used to be equipped with. The fans sport small stickers with the logo that looks like the letter C found on the box. The side of the power supply shows off the typical sticker found on any unit, which details the model, specifications, AC inputs, DC outputs, and wattages.

The modular connections side looks pretty simple. Although not fully labeled, the layout is pretty simple if you check the white paper with the illustrated layout. From the top left to bottom right connections: psu t, sink t, case, 12025, 8015, sata, 6pin pci-x, sata, 8pin+12v, and four molex ports. There are a few connections that are new to me on here. The psu t connection is a sensor near the exhaust 80mm fan and the sink t is for the sensor on the heatsink inside of the power supply. The case fan is for an intake fan (not included) for the tri-fan system. The 12025 port is used to control the internal 80mm fan inside the power supply, and the 8015 port is to control the case fan. We will get to what that means exactly to the end user in a bit. The 120mm fan sucks air into the power supply which gets blown out via the 80mm fan in the rear.

Internal Features:

The Sunbeamtech NUUO 550W does come with a 24 month warranty under normal usage. With the warranty void you see the inside of the PSU. It looks very cramped inside, despite good management of the wires. Looks like there are two pretty large heatsinks which get air blown from the 120mm fan and sucked out from the rear 80mm fan.
