The Basics:
The Noctua NC-U6 is shown below and we can see the tight array of aluminum fins bonded to a pair of U-shaped copper heatpipes. The heatpipes pass through a copper base which will make contact with your motherboard chipset.
It is quite narrow (23.5 mm), but the height (85 mm) and width (70 mm) make it quite large for a chipset cooler. The goal must be to allow the narrow profile to slip between other cards and features on a motherboard, and should help it with SLI and Crossfire compatibility, despite its height and width.
The images below show the base of the cooler, which is solid copper that has been machined to be quite flat and smooth. There isn't a mirror finish, but the fine grain in the base is not distinguishable to the touch and should allow for excellent heat transfer.
The below left image show the two mounting brackets included. You have one that will allow you to connect the NC-U6 to motherboards with hook style mounts, and one that will allow you to mount it through holes around the chipset.
The above right image shows the balance of accessories included. You have a sleeve of fairly generic thermal paste, a foam rectangle used to help protect tiny/fragile chipsets, and a screw used to secure the mounting clips to the cooler.
