Kodak Easyshare C300 3.2MP Digital Camera
|
Conclusion:
Kodak has built a reputation for having easy to use, inexpensive cameras. Although they have high end digital cameras now as well, the C300 falls right into the easy to use and inexpensive niche Kodak has built for itself.
With the Geeks.com offering the C300 for the bargain price of $79, it is pretty hard to beat. Obviously the Kodak Easyshare C300 3.2MP Digital Camera is not meant to do all the things a high end digital camera can do, but for a camera you can take anywhere and not have a huge worry about it getting lost, stolen, or damaged in some way it is great for those random "Kodak moments" that pop up when you least expect them.
The Kodak C300 also makes a great little camera for young kids wanting to get into digital photography. It was in my house for only an hour or two when my twelve year old son proclaimed it "his new camera" and this puts my mind at ease that he is happy with the C300 rather than my more expensive digital camera.
Geeks.com is presently sold out of the Kodak C300, and the nature of their business doesn't guarantee that they will ever have it back in stock. A search of PriceGrabber shows that their price is quite competitive when compared to many other online vendors. What the Geeks do have in stock is a large selection of other digital cameras from a variety of manufacturers, with just about anyone's budget and performance expectations in mind.
Given the overall performance and value, I award the Kodak Easyshare C300 3.2MP Digital Camera from Geeks.com the Big Bruin "Good Value" award.
Pros:
» Inexpensive, entry level camera
» Durable and well constructed
» Good battery life
» Better than expected image quality
Cons:
» No optical zoom
» Overly intrusive software
