|
Packaging:
As mentioned previously, the review sample Kodak C300 was a refurbished unit, but you really could not tell the package had ever been opened.
The package includes the items detailed below:
» Kodak Easy Share C300 Digital Camera
» User's Guide
» Kodak Easy Share Software CD
» Camera wrist strap
» USB cable
» Camera dock insert
» Battery
The Basics:
The Kodak C300 is a fairly small camera that could fit into just about any pocket, although it may be about the only thing you could get into that particular pocket. If it were any smaller it would be hard for me and my big hands to use comfortably, and I think I would have a hard time keeping it steady for a good picture. I would say the C300 is small enough to carry easily, but not so small it becomes hard to use.
On the back we can see the LCD display, all of the various controls, and the traditional optical view finder.
On the bottom we find the battery bay which holds two AA batteries (which are included with the C300), and the threaded hole to mount the C300 to a tripod.
On the right side of the C300 is the door that covers the memory card slot. The C300 comes with 16MB of onboard memory, but it will also accept SD and MMC flash memory cards. We have added a 512MB SD card for use in the review. According to the manual, on the highest quality setting the 16MB of onboard memory will hold 17 pictures; however I seem to be able to get 21 pictures onto the onboard memory at this setting. With the 512MB SD card the camera reports room for 625 pictures (also on the highest quality setting).
After examining the C300 I am pleased with the overall looks and layout of the controls. The quality of construction and durability also seem to be high, as not even an hour after I unpacked the camera and had it sitting on the coffee table, my neighbors dog knocked it on to the floor with a sweep of his tail. The C300 showed no evidence of the mishap and continues to work with no issues.
