Jing Ting Force Chipset Cooler
March 07, 2006

Conclusion:

An 8C temperature drop is not to be dismissed! The Jing Ting Force Chipset Cooler works great at cooling the nForce4 chipset. With a high performance silent 40mm fan you can not go wrong with this cooler. The use of a heat pipe is not technically new (they have been used on CPU coolers for some time), but taking the heat dispersion fins away from the base is different and is what allows it to work in situations where other chipset coolers would not.

Keeping a motherboard's chipset cool is one of the keys to a solid overclock, so this cooler would definitely be an asset to an overclocker using an nForce4 based motherboard!

As near perfect as the cooler is, you could potentially have issues with the orientation of the fan. The biggest reason to change the angle of the fan is that you could potentially have little wires in the area of the fan. If you look closely at the installed picture earlier in the review, you can see the fan is near the motherboard-to-case wires. This is minor as it is unique to the direction of the install, and can be avoided. Had I turned it a little it could have avoided this issue, but potentially covered several SATA connections. Perhaps if the heat pipe was bent a little more to make the fins and fan more vertical some issues would be avoided, but I am sure there are technical reasons why it is the direction that it is.

Finally, I would like to see an LED fan option. Yes, this is an extremely minor point, and I won't take any points away from it for this, but it is a personal preference that I know many others like. That said, you do have the option to replace the installed fan with a 40mm fan of your choice.

Currently, the Jing Ting Chip Force is not available in the US, but we should see it soon. If they were to start selling it in the US, I would expect a suggested retail price of $20 to $30.

I am really impressed by the cooling properties of the Jing Ting Force Chipset Cooler and award it a score of 4.5 out of 5 stars, and a rating of "Recommended".

Final Rating (4.5 out of 5 stars):

Pros:

» Easy Installation
» Strong cooling performance
» Could aid in overclocking
» Near Noiseless at 21dBa
» All necessary accessories, and even an extra set of mounts

Cons:

» No install instructions included
» May have issues with install on some
