Accessories:
Apple has many accessories available for the iPod Video. Ranging from docking cradles, AC power, USB cables, and FM transmitters. You can get additional information on these Apple accessories from the iPod website.
Probably one of the most popular accessories is the iPod Universal Dock. For $39.00 the Apple docking cradle will allow you to charge and sync your iPod Video. It also includes additional connections for the optional AV cable. Another option with the cradle is the iPod Remote. This will come in very handy if you connect your iPod Video to a TV. This is available for an additional $29.00 after you purchase the cradle. The Remote will not work without the Apple docking cradle.
In addition to music and video, the iPod Video is capable of viewing photos. To do this, you need to attach your digital camera's USB cable to the iPod Video using the Camera Connector, which will cost $29.00. It could be indispensable if you take long trips with the family and need a place to unload all those memory cards without a computer. To view the video or your photos on a TV, you need the optional AV cable for $19.00.
If you frequently use your iPod somewhere other than your main location, you might want to think about how to provide additional power to your iPod Video. You can pick up an additional USB cable, which will allow you to charge and sync it with another computer, and this cable will run you about $19.00. Another option is to provide AC power to charge your iPod, which will still require the use of the USB cable. The AC power adapter costs $39.00. If your iPod is used in another location, and you need to charge it, plan to spend about $60 for a "travel" power connection. In my opinion, Apple did include a USB cable, but they should have also included the AC power adapter. They included it with their earlier models.
When traveling with your iPod, you will want to keep it protected. These concerns have been addressed with the availability of the iPod Sock. These come in a package in a variety of colors. They are exactly what they sound like, small socks to hold your iPod. While they are nice, they really offer little protection, and you can't view the screen while it's in the sock. Currently there are no other "Apple" iPod Video skins available, but they should be available very soon.
Thankfully, with the popularity of the Apple iPod, there are many other accessories available from other manufacturers. I was able to purchase a docking cradle (no remote possible), which came with a USB cable, and an AC power pack for under $35.00, which included 2 day shipping! Granted they do not have the little Apple logo on them, but they work perfectly. There are also many 3rd party iPod Video skins available.
