Photo Functionality:
The Photo menu is pretty basic. It gives you a list of the photos on the unit, as well as a unique menu to configure your slideshow settings. I really enjoy this option, as I like to carry many pictures of my family with me when I am traveling. This allows me to carry thousands of pictures with me. Once you select the photo album you want to look at, it gives you a really small thumbnail view of approximately 30 pictures at a time. Personally, I'd rather see fewer thumbnails, but have them a little larger. It is not really an issue though, as the screen has a great resolution, so even the tiny thumbnail is easily visible.

On the Slideshow Settings menu, you have the option to set the time per slide at either Manual, 2, 3, 5, 10 or 20 second intervals. You can also have music playing in the background by selecting any of your playlists. Repeat and Shuffle photos is done by setting a simple On/Off option. The final option on the Slideshow Settings is whether you want the slideshow's to be viewable on a TV, using an optional AV cable.
To making transitioning between photos pleasant, Apple has included eleven (11) different transitions, and a random setting. Many of these are similar to each other, they just vary by direction of the transition.
