The Basics (continued):

Here we get to see some of the menu options; "Main Menu", "Extras Menu" (from left to right)...

You can see you have a lot of different features here for you. Let's get a little deeper into these menus and options. The above pictures only show you a few of the things this cool little Nano is capable of doing.

» Main Menu -> Playlist -> {List of all your play list} + an "on the go" play list that you build on your Nano, not from iTunes

» Main Menu -> Artists -> {List of all the Artist in your Nano} -> {Albums from that Artist} -> {Song List}

» Main Menu -> Albums -> {List of all the Albums in your Nano} -> {Song List}

» Main Menu -> Songs -> {List of all the Songs in your Nano}

» Main Menu -> Genres -> {List of Genres in your Nano} -> {List of Artist in selected Genre} -> {Albums from that Artist} -> {Song List}

» Main Menu -> Composers -> {List of Composers in your Nano} -> {Albums from that Composer}-> {Song List}

WOW! That's a lot of ways to find and play your music. I like it! You also have a set of "Extras" that include a clock, games, contacts, a calendar, notes, stopwatch, and screen lock. The games are simple but amusing ones like Solitaire, Parachute, Brick, and Music Quiz. Music Quiz is kind of neat, as it bases it's questions off of the music in your Nano. Also from the main menu it has my favorite feature; Shuffle Songs. This will randomly play all the songs in your Nano. I really enjoy the mixing of my music like this, so this is the most used feature in my Nano.

Now that I've had this unit and played with it for about a month I have gotten a good feel for it, and it's battery life. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to play the Nano until the battery quit, however, I played it for almost 2 full work days (with pauses of course) and the indicator finally went red; indicating it needed to be charged. I can say there are very few situations I could see someone being in that they would actually run out of battery power. If you were using it in your car I imagine you would buy one of the iPod car kits that will keep it charged. You could also consider a USB port or other type of charging device for most other places you would use it. If you planned on using it to exercise and/or run with, I would think you'd pass out long before it will.
