Icy Dock MB452UK-B USB 2.0 3.5

Testing:

Using the enclosure is "so simple a caveman could do it". Just plug in the power and USB 2.0 cables and turn the key.

The drive will automatically be found and will be ready to use after a quick automatic driver install (if your system has Windows 2000 or later). The drive appears just like an internal hard drive does. The noise level is a little on the high side with the 40mm fan, and it would be nice to have it controlled or on an auto setting to be at full speed only when it gets to a certain temperature.

In addition to being simple to use in the external enclosure, the drive tray can also be used on Icy Dock's internal MB122 and 123 series bay devices With PC and Mac compatibility, this adds a good deal of value to the MB452UK-B kit.

I used HDTach to test the read speed of the drive using its one and only USB 2.0 connection. It does bottleneck the actual speed of the drive, but most computers today have USB 2.0 ports and that makes it more portable and practical than an eSATA enclosure.
