Conclusion:
The Kingston HyperX 2GB PC3200 Dual Channel DDR Kit offered surprisingly good performance in the face of another 2GB kit of performance DDR that seemed to have the advantage (at least on paper). For gamers and PC enthusiasts looking for an edge without the risks and time investment of overclocking, this kit is definitely worth considering.
If you appreciate default speed performance, but know you plan to overclock, this probably isn't the right dual channel kit for you for two reasons. One, the HyperX 2GB PC3200 Dual Channel DDR Kit required extremely loose timings and wasn't as stable as other DDR at moderate clock speeds (DDR460). Two, Kingston does not support clocking beyond the specified speed, and doing so can/will void your lifetime warranty.
A search of PriceGrabber reveals that this kit retails for as low as $220 (US), which is quite competitive for a 2GB set of high performance dual channel DDR. There are a handful of comparable kits on the market, and this kit seems to fall in the middle based on an quick analysis of price and performance. Some kits with tighter timings can be had for 10-20% more, while kits with more generic timings can be had for 10-20% less.
Given the proven performance at default speed, the ability to run at lower latencies than advertised, and the potential for a decent performance boost if you're bold enough to overclock, I'd say this kit is an excellent choice in the growing field of 2GB dual channel DDR kits. With that said, I have no problem awarding the Kingston HyperX 2GB PC3200 Dual Channel DDR Kit a final score of four out of five stars, and the rating of being both "Recommended" and "Gamin Approved".
