CPU:
This combination from the Geeks.com comes with an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ CPU already installed in the motherboard. There is a sticker bridging the edge of the CPU and the ZIF socket clearly stating if it is removed the warranty is void.
Using the numbers on the heat spreader on the CPU I was able to find these specifications on it.
» Athlon 64 Frequency/Model number3000 MHz (rated), 2000 MHz
» L1 cache 64KB+64KB
» L2 cache 512 KB
» Multimedia Instructions: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, 3DNOW! Professional
» Maximum operating temperature 65°C
» Stepping E6, single processor, 0.09 micron, socket 754
» Voltage 1.4V
The Athlon 64 chips have made a great name for themselves, and we will get more into how well it performs once we get everything installed in a system and start running benchmarks.
Heatsink/fan:
The heatsink is from Cooler Master and is constructed of aluminum with an 80mm fan mounted on top of it. There is a thin layer of thermal grease already applied to the bottom of the heatsink, which is protected by a plastic cover you remove when ready to install.
Mounting is handled by a lever operated clip that makes the process a breeze and eliminates the worry of slipping a screw driver and damaging the motherboard.
