Power Supply Internals:
Opening the unit (which will void any warranty) allows us to see the internal components of the power supply. The layout of the GameXStream surprised me a little. I was expecting two large heatsinks, which is common among power supplies, but instead there is just one large heatsink, and two thin ones. If you look closely, you can see the 120mm fan plugs directly into the main PCB.
On this side of the power supply, you can see all of the connections are hard-wired to the main PCB. If you look closely, you can see all the 3V+ wires are together, as are the 5V+ and 12V+ cables. Also, you can see how the cable wrapping was terminated inside the housing. Some of the cables used a heat shrink tube to terminate the wrapping, however each lead did use a cable tie to secure the wrapping. Granted this is on the inside of the power supply, which most will never see, but this goes to show you the attention to detail that OCZ provides to ensure that you are getting a top quality power supply.
Finally, we have the 120mm blue LED fan. The fan is a Protechnic Electric MGA12012HB-025, which boasts a 2500RPM. While the manufacturer of the fan says it has a 38dBA rating, the GameXStream has a 17dBA rating. The 17dBA rating is much more likely as the power supply could not be heard while running. I had to check it several times to make sure the fan was spinning.
