OCZ Technology GameXStream 700W Power Supply Unit
|
The Basics:
With the power supply removed from the packaging, it is time to look it over. The finish on the GameXStream 700W is a nice change from the extremely shiny and mirror finish that is very common these days. This power supply has a nice finish on it, but has no reflective properties like the titanium finishes so many units come with now. I like this flat finish as fingerprints do not show up as easily.
In this image you can see the 120mm fan positioned behind a standard black fan grill. This is easy to remove and replace should you want a flashier fan grill. Unless you open the power supply to hold the fan in place, take care as the fan could move and make it more difficult to install a different grill.
The below left image shows off the typical sticker panel which details the basic specifications, approvals, and so on. If you look closely at the sticker you will see the 3.3V+ and 5V+ have a combined power output of 155W, which is a sufficient amount of power for these rails. As usual, I would like to have seen this value be even higher. You should also notice the 12V+ rails provide a combined power output of 680W! These are some powerful 12V+ rails!
The above right image shows off the rear of the PSU where the honey-comb openings allow for nearly unrestricted airflow. This will help keep all the internal components cool while minimizing any noise from air rushing past obstructions. There is no voltage switch since this power supply auto regulates the power.
Next we have the top of the power supply which you will most likely only see during installation / maintenance, unless you have a clear case. This area is plain and again it has a flawless finish. In my opinion, this would be a better place for the voltage sticker since it would still provide you with the information if you wanted it, but it could allow your case to look a little nicer.
