Thermaltake Eureka Aluminum Full Tower Case
June 17, 2006

The Basics (continued):

The back side panel is plain, the only thing to see on that side of the case are the headphone/microphone jacks, two USB, and one Firewire port. These can easily be connected to your motherboard with the supplied internal wiring. You can also see the second lock, this one is designed to keep the door secured, so your drivers can not be removed.

The final portion of the exterior is the front bezel, hidden behind the door. As you can see there are five 5.25" drive bays, and two 3.5" bays. Again, like the Thermaltake Shark, these bays are fairly tool-less, using a rail system to install your bay devices. Finally, you can see the inside of the door which is curved like the front of the door. This is a nice change from a solid door, as it will allow you to have devices that sick out a little from the front bezel, such as 5.25" bay water coolers. A personal preference is for the door to open the opposite direction. I would really like to see manufacturers allow for the door to be installed on either side.

You can easily remove the front bezel, by pushing/pulling some snaps inside the case. Removing the panel allows you to see the 120mm front intake fan, which includes a filter. You can easily remove the fan and replace it if you would like. The filter is probably the first point of issue. You have to remove the front panel in order to get to the filter. It would be nice if there was a way to clean the filter without removing the panel. I can do this on the Shark, and have been surprised at how clean it remains, even with constant use.

Removing the side panel allows you to see the interior of the case. Nothing immediately jumps out as a new feature. There are several common features such as the five 3.5" hard drive bays being rotated, and the support brace in the top section.
