Enermax Chakra ATX Case with 25cm Fan
|
External Inspection:
The first thing I noticed was the huge 25cm fan mounted on the side of the case with a switch to choose which direction the fan spins. For the most part the case looks very sleek with the all black design, and the front is curved and meshed for maximum airflow.
The rear of the case looks pretty standard with 7 expansion slots, some holes for air to vent, and a place for a rear fan (not included).
Internal Inspection:
With the side panel removed we see the monster 25cm fan (650rpm, 17dBA, 90cfm) from the inside with a CD to compare the size. It would have been nice for the fan to have a 3 pin connector so we could monitor the rpm. The inside of the case looks pretty familiar compared to most cases out today.
The tool-less design of the expansion slots and the 5.25" device bays are becoming more common and very easy to use. Note the top two 5.25" bays do not include any tool-less mechanisms. The reason for that is the top two bays are specially designed for CD-ROMs with auto opening covers. That will be discussed in more detail later.
The hard drive cage is tool-less and removable for easy installation of hard drives. The cage removes easily to install a front fan which is optional.
