The Basics:
Many of AVerMedia's products are sold in plain white boxes that are designed for OEM sale, and not for retail. That is precisely how the AVerTV Purity 3D MCE 500 is packaged. The only markings on the box are on the front of it. This shows the model of TV tuner, as well as a few key points. The final item on the label is the location of the drivers. No drivers are included in the box, you have to download them. This is good, because it ensures you have the latest available.
Opening the box reveals the components that are included. You have the PCI TV tuner, the secondary input daughter card, and a FM radio antenna. Nothing else, as this is an OEM box after all.
As you can see here, the items are not thrown into a box, they are wrapped in bubble wrap, and then placed between some foam to help avoid any damage. My card was shipped twice, originally to Bigbruin.com headquarters, then shipped on to me. The TV tuner arrived undamaged through both shipments.
The picture on the left shows you the front side of the card. As you can see by the picture on the right, in the upper right section of the card you can see two plugs that are used for the daughter board to provide additional connections. There are two connections, however there is only one daughter card included. A second daughter card is available from AVerMedia directly, however no price has been set.
