Arctic Cooling Accelero X1 VGA Cooler
May 16, 2006

Testing:

To test the cooling properties of the Arctic Cooling Accelero X1, I installed it in a system with the following equipment:

» AMD Athlon-64 3500+ processor
» Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI motherboard
» Thermaltake Tai-Chi Super-Tower case
» 2GB (4x512) Samsung 2700 DDR memory
» 1 - Seagate 80GB SATA hard drive
» 1 - Western Digital 250GB IDE hard drive
» NEC DVD-R/W
» Cooler Master Cool Drive 4 (used to take temperatures and fan speed)
» 10-n-1 Media Card reader
» 2 - 120mm LED fans

The idle condition was established by powering the system with no applications running for a period of at least 30 minutes. The load condition was established by running 3dMark2006 and SiSoft Sandra 2005's Burn-in Wizard for a period of at least 60 minutes.

This chart compares the temperatures from each of the three video coolers. The Accelero provided a significant improvement over the default eVGA cooler, and surpassed Arctic Cooling's NV Silencer 5.

The final aspect of testing is whether it adds any amount of noise to your system. The standard cooler on the eVGA 7800GT is rather loud, and can easily be recognized in my system. The NV Silencer 5 could not be distinguish audibly in my system. The Accelero X1 is a little louder than the NV Silencer 5, however it was not loud enough to be easily recognized above the noise from my other components.
