I was recently at a consumer electronics show, talking to the folks at
Seagate about what was new and exciting in their lineup. Some of what they were showing included devices from
LaCie, Seagate's premium brand of world-class storage solutions. One of the LaCie devices of interest was their 2TB P9227 Porsche Design USB-C mobile hard drive, as shown in the promotional image below.
The drive in question features a USB C connector, with adapters to make it compatible with USB 3.1/3.0/2.0. It comes pre-installed with some useful utility software, and you can choose from either silver or gold finishes and capacities of 1TB, 2TB, or 4TB. Before taking a look at the unit to be reviewed, let's look at some published data on the drive, as taken from the
official product page on the LaCie website...

While you may be excited thinking this hard drive might be supercharged like a Porsche brand car, Porsche Design is more of a luxury brand design shop that has less to do with automobiles, and more to do with clothing, watches, and accessories.
