Kingwin JET eSATA/USB External Drive Enclosure
|
A recent report estimated that approximately 161 Exabytes (161 Billion Gigabytes) was created in 2006. This is a huge amount of information, and I am sure that even the largest user still contributes only a small fraction of that. Storage has become fairly inexpensive over the past few years, and many manufacturers now offer external enclosures to help users add some low cost, portable disk space to their systems. Kingwin is no different.
Kingwin has updated their line up to include a new enclosure that supports a SATA hard drive that can connect via both eSATA and USB. Taking it one step further, this unit also includes a one touch back-up feature which can allow you to keep your precious data in two locations.

Packaging:
The front of the Kingwin JET's box gives you a view of the two colors available (black and silver), along with a very brief rundown on the features of the enclosure. The back side gives you all the details you could ask for. The box is made for both versions of the enclosure; the eSATA only version and the eSATA and USB 2.0 version received for review. The eSATA and USB 2.0 version is different from the eSATA only version due to the connections available and the inclusion of the one touch back-up function.
Inside the box, the enclosure is wrapped in bubble wrap which should help keep it from being damaged and protect the finish from small scratches. Inside the white box to the left are the various accessories that are necessary to use the enclosure.
