Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case
February 21, 2007

Installation (continued):

As mentioned, the drive bay design is the worst feature on this case. As you can see in the picture below the screwdriver shaft makes seeing the "hole in a hole" just about impossible. This design requires you install the screws blind (you can't see the screws or the hole you are trying to line-up the drive with) and keep in mind gravity is working against you as you try to torque the screws from the top-down. From an assembly point of view this is a huge design flaw on Antec's part and I really can't see why the people designing this case couldn't identify such a problem.

Here are some more pictures of the drive-cage before the hard disks were installed. Despite the blind hole design Antec does do a good job of routing the cables for the 120mm front-fan along the side of the cage.

The fan speed selector pictured below will still however get in your way. In a meeting with Antec at this year's Las Vegas 2007 Consumer Electronics Show, employees from Antec did inform us later models of Antec cases will have a method of external case fan speed control. I look forward to seeing this feature considering the current Antec Nine Hundred case requires you to open the case window every time you want to change the TriCool fan speeds.

Now lets see some pictures of the case running in action. I tried to take several shots to showcase the blue light emitted by the built-in TriCool case fans. The blue glow is really a nice feature.

To further improve on this case Antec should make an on/off switch for the LEDs built into these fans. Yes, the fans look cool when your playing games or showing the case off to your friends, however if you have your computer in your bedroom and your trying to sleep this case effectively becomes a giant annoying "night-light." Not a standard feature from any LED fan, but it would still be nice.
