i am running a Abit KT7-RAID w/ a T-Bird 1Ghz. my Abit hardware monitor senses some voltage changes. what i dont know is whether or not this should be at all normal and where the problem lies. case temp is around 30-35 (dep on load), CPU usu low 50's.
is this an overall case cooling problem or a voltage problem? will motherboard manager help in diagnosis at all?
if you could please help, i would appreciate it otherwise, this thing may be flying towards someone as it heads out my window. | whoops! some of what i had to say got cut off.
to sum up: i am having trouble w/ my seasonic supersilencer 350. i replaced my burned out PSU supply 2 months ago only to have this one drive me crazy.
in short as as follows, this PSU whines up and down depending on computer activity. the rest above/below... |

I think I know what he means... When I fire up Motherboard Monitor 5 (weird, just one application)... I get an audible whine from inside my case. It is faint, but high pitched and only lasts as long as it takes for the app to be up and running. Poking around inside my case has me confident that it is the power supply... an Allied 500W unit I reviewed last summer... |

yes, it is related to opening applications. my abit hardware monitor really shows minimal voltage swings indicating things are very stable. however, my baseline PSU fan rpm is somewhere around 2500 at a case temp of 32-33 (not great but ok), much higher than quoted in your review. no noise from the speakers. strictly psu issue here.
the whining is in response to cpu usage. when it hits 20-30% a noticeable whine in the fan speed occurs. when it hits 100% it roars to 2800 rpm. i think even the baseline rpms are a little high, considering the case temp. on initial bootup the fan is nice and quiet and then just gradually increases up to a very audible 2500rpm or so at 32C. it doesnt leave much room for cpu use surges.
now imagine this up and down whining occuring with pratically every app, mp3, etc off & on all night long. incredibly annoying.
any ideas or suggestions? motherboard? psu itself? if not, i am ready to sell my system piece by piece and go shuttle SFF version 2 units with 32db. i know they arent perfect but anything is better than this whining and sighing. real distracting. please help! |
