Running Windows 7. Love it so far!

I also put some Arctic Silver 5 compound and temps fell by 7 degrees celsius under load from 66 to 59.

Also did some slight overclocking on the video card.

I would whole-heartedly second the recommendation for Arctic Silver. It is the best!

Using OCZ Freeze. Not much of a difference on my HP MediaSmart Server but it is running a 35W Sempron 3400+. My desktop on the other hand while only an Athlon AM2 x2 4200+ realized a full 4 degree difference from the crummy bubblegum heatpad that was on it stock.

I had a 7 degree drop after I switched to Arctic Silver 5! Haha! Thing is, I found out later you are supposed to remove those thermal pads that come on the stock heatsink before applying thermal compound (I used some generic before I got my AS5). Thus, I think the real temperature difference might've been less had I applied thermal paste correctly the first time (and DAMN what a pain in the a$$ it was to take that mixture off, lol).

DOH! Well you definitely got lucky Wink I had a buddy of mine do something similar when he got into the tech end of computers a few years back with an Athlon. The HS popped right off the processor with out any of the stock pad remaining on the top of the processor. So he wiped the top of the processor covered it in goop and bolted it back down Laughing

Smoked the processor Yikes

Finger nail polish remover or acetone will take it off pretty easily. Just takes a couple seconds to soften it up then you simply wipe it off.

Another option is usually found in the paint department..."GOO-Gone" but what acruxksa suggest is usually already "at home". Laughing
