Recently I've had quite a bit of time on my hands and I've become very upset with how my life is going. The main reason is that if I'm not with my girlfriend (which unfortunately isn't very often), I'm on the computer. Why? Many reasons:
Here in Carlsbad (and surrounding areas) my peers are idiots
The girls in this area are Hoes (thank God for Jackie)
This is a retirement/college area, and I'm not doing either
I don't make very much money
I can only play guitar so many hours each day before my hands hurt
I consider myself a fairly intelligent person and like to have meaningful conversations in productive areas... Most people around here don't even know what a fillibuster is.
I think I may have come up with a solution. I think I should go to college and explore my potential (I have no education outside of HS *ack*). Unfortunately I have no money and will have to go for as many grants and such as I can, and pay the rest with Federal funding.
Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions/words of encouragement? I'm quite confused because I have no one else to ask... My mother is a drunk and my father doesn't care.
Thanks in advance

Go for it! Do the research and see what $$ is available. Do you live at home (with parents), if not can you move back to save $$? Try a community college - 2 years for an associates and then go on for a bachelors. After two years you might have skills that would allow you to be gainlyfully employed and the let your employer pay for the bachelors.
Why does it take five Irishmen to change a lightbulb?
One to change the bulb.
Four to remark about how grand the old bulb was. _________________ The Mistress Of Irish Humor |

Sorry, I'm not moving to TN or FL!
I have many aspirations and talents that I'd like to explore and perhaps college would help that? My music wouldn't suffer, either, which used to be a major concern. I think I would do all the GenEd stuff first and get that out of the way and decide on a major later, despite having many ideas about what I want. _________________

I say go for it. If you can't afford it and can't find a way to, at least start your own business. You know php, I assume html too, so maybe a web design busness or something like that. With that you can go to college and get a job.
I hate it how it works though. Getting a job does not go by how smart you are, but by how much education you have. But you gota go with the flow. _________________
