My father used to be able to turn off a whole computer room if he ran into it, this is because of electrostatic energy. Misty, try touching a piece of metal before walking away from the computer.

I have heard people complaining that this happened with certain PSU's

try switching the PSU for another one and try it... a couple of my friends had this problem.
