My parents live in New Jersey and they have been having horriable issues with Verizone as of late. I jsut wanted to see if other people were havign problems with Verizon as well of if thsi is isolated.

Long story short they have high speed internet (not FIOS) thru Verizon and one day it works great and then for a few days the internet does not work at all. Then all of a sudden it is ok again.

They have spent hours with customer service and they just get the run around. I feel bad for them cause they are not the most knowadegeble when it comes to technology and computers. The people at Verizon tell them they test the line and it is workign fine. Not sure how they do that but it is a bunch of BS to me.

I even took my modem and my laptop home to test them out and found they did not work either- so in my mind it is deifintly an issue with the lines/signal coming in. However Verizon will not send a tech to the house- and the worst part is even if they dit there is the possiablity that when they came things could be working but an hour later not workign again.

The latest story is that Verizon insists their browser is not workign properly and my parents not knowing enough actually took the computer to a guy to get it fixed. I am jsut mad cause I am 90% sure the computer is fine and browser is fine since my laptop did nto work either when I had it at their house.

Just not sure what to do- one of those times I wish I lived closer to home to be able to help them out by b!%@#ing out Verizone for them and making sure they were not charged for all the days service was not working (also I would b!%@# until they had a tech at the house)

Such s#!7.

Can't help but I am in Jersey and have heard stories about Verizon. People I know actually just canceled FIOS and went back to Cablevision.

I don't current have verizon (waiting for them to finish running FIOS here) But I know talk to quite a few that do have it.
The reason most people leave verizon, including FIOS is incredibly poor customer service from billing and repair, the techs are great and when it works the service is great, but the run around you get from the phone people, the massive continuing billing failures (and failure to correct them after multiple promises that it's fixed) and their resistance to actually send some one to fix line problems, has many thinking things at TW/Cablevision/comcast/etc. were pretty good.
the only way to be sure this gets fixed is hands on, either you go home for a tech call/visit or hire call someone you trust in their area to
a}throughly check their computer
b}and be there during a verizion tech call/visit to be sure they don't get the run-a-round.
orther choice is find a different company serving their house and help them get switched over.

Good Luck
