Where are you buying your software? XP isn't going to cost more...

Pay attention son... did you read the first page? Laughing

Only way to get XP is to get a XPS710 for $500 more.

Not to mention if you run one software title that doesnt works with Aero, it shutsdown the service for the entire computer.

Yep, that was one of the most annoying things I found with Aero. it kept switching back and forth. Hopefully it's a bit better now though.

On a side note (actually completely off topic, but someone mentioned beryl a couple posts back so here it is), I've got sabayon 3.2a Mini Edition on my laptop and beryl/xgl has come a long way. It used to be a royal pain to get working on my laptop (ATI x1400 mobile radeon), but not anymore. Things are definitely getting better on the Linux side and Vista/Aero is not even in the same class as Beryl/XGL/AIGLX. Too bad WoW still runs like cr@p on Wine.

I've actually heard Cedega runs WoW quite well. But yeah, beryl beats the hell out of Aero. You can do all kinds of things with beryl, while Aero is...transparent boxes? I still wouldnt want to set it up on an ATI card, because linux support with ATI is kind of s#!7*. But if you have a good NVidia card and are running linux theres really no reason not to run it, it's a lot of fun.

Rather than bother with Aero and Vista, I'll stick with XP and an Aero-like skin from Windowblinds
