Not to mention if you run one software title that doesnt works with Aero, it shutsdown the service for the entire computer. |
Yep, that was one of the most annoying things I found with Aero. it kept switching back and forth. Hopefully it's a bit better now though.
On a side note (actually completely off topic, but someone mentioned beryl a couple posts back so here it is), I've got sabayon 3.2a Mini Edition on my laptop and beryl/xgl has come a long way. It used to be a royal pain to get working on my laptop (ATI x1400 mobile radeon), but not anymore. Things are definitely getting better on the Linux side and Vista/Aero is not even in the same class as Beryl/XGL/AIGLX. Too bad WoW still runs like cr@p on Wine. |
I've actually heard Cedega runs WoW quite well. But yeah, beryl beats the hell out of Aero. You can do all kinds of things with beryl, while Aero is...transparent boxes? I still wouldnt want to set it up on an ATI card, because linux support with ATI is kind of s#!7*. But if you have a good NVidia card and are running linux theres really no reason not to run it, it's a lot of fun. _________________ ABAP? What did you call me? |
