I have a Gateway 510M3 computer with I think a 250w power supply. Is this good enough for the new Windows Vista coming out?? |

wow, 2GB is a lot for that computer...might need to toss what is in there now for 2x1GB kit or 4x512MB...assuming it has 4 slots. |

I've been running Vista on a lot less, but integrated graphics won't let you run Aero, which is one of the key things MS is touting _________________

Why waste system resources on running useless features that will probably even be more of a pain if anything for a while? Seems to me like sticking with XP for a while would be the better decesion. Not that this matters much to most of us, Vista won't be released for home users until early 07' at the very best. |
Amen!

XP is Vista's competitor...I personally don't know anyone who is gonna plunk down $200 for Vista. I will probably run it at home (once I get my free copy from MSDN...and only because I'll need to support it) _________________

I'll be getting a free copy as well, doubt I'll install it though. Yay free software through my school. _________________ ABAP? What did you call me? |

Errrr BS.

So if you rank the competition for Vista, what do you see most prominently?
The No. 1 competitor in a sense right out of the chute is Windows XP Service Pack 2. There are a lot of happy users. Getting those people to upgrade their software or buy a new PC -- the fact that people are generally happy is a certainly a barrier to as rapid adoption as we might like to see. |
