MSI 7093 CPU and Memory advice

It's always better to use two matched(Same model) sticks, and never one alone. Putting generic RAM doesn't help either.

DDR CL=2-6-3-3 are the timings, and PC3200 or DDR400 is the memory speed. If you want to match the existing 1GB stick, you should check it out as it should also have a sticker with that kind of info on it. Matched pairs in dual channel mode are your best bet.

The GeiL stuff sounds good, too... Are they in use in another system?

Well the Geil's used to be in a system that you helped me build a long time again Mr. T

I just thought it migt be good to use them again. To be honest memory is cheap so what I really should ask you smart types is what would the best memory be for me in this mother board? I plan to wait a little and get the uber AMD chip that was posted on this thread earlier if that helps you with your choice.

Well, if you think 1GB is enough, go for the 2x GeiL sticks. 1GB is generally fine. But, since you mentioned wanting so much memory before, you may want to look online for the matched stick to your one 1GB stick on hand.

If you do load up on memory, your best bet is to use 2 sticks... going to 4 sticks has slowed things down in all my tests.

I also read on one site that your boad can support the FX-60... but I don't see that on the MSI site...

TFB... it's hard to say what is the "best memory for that board".

Here's my suggestions.

1) 2GB Dual Channel kit (2 x 1GB)
2) PC3200/DDR400
3) Cas Latency: 2
4) Timing: 2-3-2-5 (or better)

If you get some RAM that matches those you will be happy, and have a great running system.
