Well, for the past few days, I've been building this AMD system.

AMD 2500+ Barton, ASUS A7N8X-E Dlx, 2x 512meg Corsair XMS PC3200 CL2, ATI 9600XT, WD 80gig 8meg Cashe (Boot on a PCI controller), 2x WD 80gig 8meg Cashe SATA (Raid 0), Memorex True 8x DVD +/-, Lite On CD-RW/DVD Rom, Antec True Power 550w PSU.

This is the setup I plan on useing the Koolance EXOS AL watercooling kit on. For compairison....it's setup with a Valcano 7 all copper HSF. I'll also get temps from a Thermalright SKU 800a HSF.

1st issue I've had to deal with was.....DATA corruption on the RAID drives. The system would only boot every 4th or 5th time. BIOS & MBM5 both reported temps at 38'c.....so I know it was not a heating issue.
Turns out my OC'ing from 1.83GHz(stock) to 2.2GHz was the culpret. Once I droped it down to 2.1HGz.....all was fine (at least, so far!).

Next issue....I could NOT sign into this wonderful site. the front page (home) would only show the top 1/4 of the page, nothing else would load. On OCCASION I could get into the forums page (I posted a couple times) but, no avatars would show.
Turns out Zone Alarm Pro 5 was the culpret here. After resetting the default settings a few times, reconfiguring this setting or that setting, finally here I am!

DAMN.....is all this worth it???? Bang Head

No... pack it all up and send it to me. I'll take one for the team...

Laughing

OCing and RAID isn't always a great thing... specially if your upping the FSB.

Many boards lock out the PCI (and AGP) from overclocking, so RAID shouldn't be bothered by overclocking... At least that is the case on my two boards (one P4 and one A64), that have onboard RAID.

My older boards don't do that Sad Like my KR7A-R. That is the only one I have with onboard RAID. I don't OC my dually's FSB so it's not relevant.

But yea, if the PCI is locked, then your good to go.

I don't think they're combined, PCI settings is usually located in a different section of the BIOS

Well, my boards have the AGP/PCI lock on the same page. Can set it as a fraction of the FSB (not sure why), or just lock it to 66/33 MHz.

Just checked again, no PCI lock is shown.

I'm useing the 1013 UBER BIOS by Demoulous @ nForcershq.

I don't know if his modification includes a PCI lock or not.

The ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe has both AGP and PCI lock. Also just for info those boards like a different memory timing. Mine is 11-3-2-2 for my Kingston, note the 11 is the key some brands like it set to 7. Try 11-3-3-2 see how that does, bench it play some games. Then try 11-3-2-2 then 11-2-2-2, play with the memory timing that is the key to overclocking these MB's.

As you can see by my stats I know how to push these board to their limit, and mine is just a locked 2500 barton. If you have any question feel free to pm me.
